The Week Ahead!

The start of the year is commonly very sparse in terms of game and movie releases, but luckily for us we've been given Deadpool, XCOM 2 and now, the things coming out this week!
In terms of gaming, we've got a release that hasn't actually generated very much hype: Far Cry: Primal , releasing on the 23rd, which is a prequel of sorts. Because it goes back to the literal beginning of the series, of all of human culture...cavemen. Featuring new gameplay components such as taming animals and action more focused on close combat and bows this is a, pardon the pun, Far Cry from what we're used to.
Releasing on the same day is Bridge Constructor Stunts, a mobile port. Simple premise really: you operate a truck on a 2.5D plane going from right to left and there's obstacles you have to get over to get to the end. Good for a mobile game, but perhaps too simple to warrant a pc port?
Coming out the day after is a PS4 port of a game called Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien. While the franchise is certainly not a household name, looking at gameplay of it is actually pretty cool. It's a rhythm-music platforming game, where "players will run through fantastic environments, using brand new moves, to brand new soundtracks as they run, jump, slide, kick, and soar". The levels look colourful and the feel of it looks fun. Something to look out for if you're a fan of those types of things.
On the 25th Superhot will be getting its PC and Mac releases. Several people have covered the game already but it's an FPS based on time and movement. I.E, if your character moves, everything else moves. Really interesting mechanic and something I would love to try out!
The 27th sees Pokemon Blue, Red and Yellow getting 3DS releases. I don't really need to say much about this series, everyone's heard about it now. Although if you have been living under a really big rock, probably one the size of Onyx for the last 10+ years, here's the gist of it: enslave monsters, force them to fight, enslave more. it's much more light-hearted in practice.
Now in terms of movie releases, we have 3 to pick from, all releasing on the same day. First off is Eddie the Eagle starring Hugh Jackman and Christopher Walken and is about the true story of a British Skier in 1988 who became the first competitor for GB (That's Great Britain) in Olympic ski jumping.
Next is Gods of Egypt. It's a fantasy/action film about Egyptian deities. Looks like Wrath of the Titan's: Egypt edition. That's either a good or a bad thing. Your choice.
Finally there's Triple 9, a heist action-thriller following criminals and corrupt cops being blackmailed by the Mafia. It has a pretty good cast, notably Woody Harrelson, Kate Winslet, Anthony Mackie and Norman Reedus.
Does anything here pique your interest? Let us know!
