James' Take: Assassin's Creed series

Recently I started playing Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and I thought that it was all around an OK game (for a game with Assassin's Creed's reputation). There's been a lot of bad reputation for Assassin's Creed, the first few games were great, but it's sort of gone downhill from there with Rogue just being a re-skin of Black Flag and how badly the release of Unity went.

People often criticise Ubisoft for releasing so many of these games that are relatively similar, which you can't argue with, however you can argue that some of the games are quite good. In this game for example, Ubisoft have added quite a few things, such as a grappling hook that makes traversing the ever growing maps easier and the ability to use your gang, the Rooks in combat.

However, for my own case, I would say that if Ubisoft can sort out the frequency and the quality of these games, they have the continued potential to be good. However, if it stays how it is, they are just going to lose popularity.

If I had to give advice, it would be to not buy these games until a good review is out for them. There has been a few games in this series that have not lived up to the hype, but if made properly, they can be good games.
