Joe's Take: The Worst of Star Wars- The Holiday Special We all want to forget!

Yes, Yes I know, it's a time in Star Wars History we all want to forget. But someone has to cover it and i feel it is my duty to do so. The Holiday special came at a time when the saga was at its height.

The Star Wars Holiday Special aired on CBS a week before Thanksgiving. In 1978, the Special was never rebroadcast or released on home video. The reason? Im sure you know why... But to re-iterate the point it's complete 'Bantha Poodoo' It makes Jar Jar Binks look like the greatest character of all time and the Phantom Menace an Oscar-worthy performance.

The premise, Chewbacca needed to get home for 'Life Day' (Christmas) that funnily enough did not die with this special, as all those years later Life Day events would continue in SWTOR as an annual Celebration.  It’s only positive connotation is introducing Boba Fett to the world- despite in a strange colour scheme. And the majority of the original cast- to their distaste no doubt- appeared in it too.

Having recently watched Kranitoko Games video about the holiday special, i simply had to write! Now all I can think about is Wookie grandfathers 'watching' holo-porn and the fact Chewbacca had sex and now has a son. I just simply had to share the journey with you! (You will thank me later i'm sure). Well, The Empire set up a blockade around Kashyyyk, and Chewie might not make it home. The first chunk of this is devoted to Chewbacca’s family life ( with wife Malla, son Lumpy, and father Itchy). Which means for 15 straight minutes all of the dialogue is in shyriiwook. All of it. Not a great start.

Alas, all that seems to happen in this special, that is over an HOUR long. Yest when it comes down to substance can be narrowed down to just a few points.
Imperial forces barge into Chewie's family's house and wait there to arrest Chewie and Han. Then Chewie's son somehow hacks an Imperial transmitter signal to lure all but one of the Stormtroopers away from their house letting Han Solo kill the last trooper. I understand that behind this special were people who tried. Some of them probably realized that they were making horrible mistake, but hats of to the people who made this as it cant have been easy. but take it form me, save yourself the time and don't watch it.

If you do, yes it can be quite a laugh, but not because it is meant to be funny, but because it can be quite humorous to realize that this went out on national TV. All in all, if you want to watch it great! but if not, it's no big deal.

Will this special stay in the forefront of fans minds or fade into a galaxy far far away?
