Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Preorder Plan Cancelled

The news of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's "Augment your Pre-order" program had generated a substantial amount of negative feedback from frustrated fans and just from many gamers overall- so now it's gone... We never asked for this:

The "augmented pre-order" program allowed people to choose what pre-order bonus they would receive in their Day One edition of the game, selecting items from 5 different tiers that unlocked progressively.

The first tier was already unlocked, and all the other tiers included art books, soundtracks, extra missions, comics and for the final tier, a 4 day early release of the game. The catch to unlocking these however, were secret global pre-order goals.

People had to commit to a product they had no idea about just to get better things, and that obviously made them irritable, understandably so as some are already against any idea of the pre-order and this simply encourages it even more.

Needless to say, it didn't work. Square Enix, posting on the game's website, had spoken out saying that they admitted the system had simply resulted in frustration. But instead of cancelling the bonuses, they have decided to give anyone who pre-orders the game (or gets the Day One copy) every single pre-order bonus. It will not be available earlier however, but it's a good trade-off to stop any further backlash and make people actually start considering pre-orders for the game.
