Gamescom EA Wrap-Up!

Image result for battlefront

Hey guys, Joe here with a wrap up of the EA Gamescom press conference. EA showed many games at this conference, however it was mostly recapping information we had seen at E3 with a few new trailers and features thrown in. However, it was disappointing that Mass Effect Andromeda did not make an appearance at the event.

STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT
The new Star Wars Battlefront: Fighter Squadron Gameplay Trailer was revealed today, showing iconic ships and fan favourites such as the Millennium Falcon doing battle against the Empire.
'For fans of the epic Star Wars scenes with Rebel and Imperial ships facing off in intense dogfights, Fighter Squadron is the ultimate Star Wars Battlefront™ game mode.'

'Featuring iconic Rebel X-Wings and A-Wings, as well as the dreaded Imperial Tie Fighters and Tie Interceptors, Fighter Squadron lets you engage in aerial battles with up to 20 players, and AI-controlled ships joining the fight.'

Now that's very exciting: many people have wondered, since the announcement that Battlefront would not have a separate space mode, what the aerial combat would be like, but this trailer shows it all!

FIFA 16
FIFA 16 is set to get a new game mode, FUT Draft, in a bid to expand on the popular (and very profitable) Ultimate Team online feature.
Fans must Draft a squad and challenge opponents in a series of up to four matches to win rewards for their club/team, including the choice of captain, the 23-man layout and what formation to adopt when facing down the other team.
'You can compete in single player or online against opponents across the globe. As you progress, you’ll earn better rewards, including coins, packs, and more. Win four matches in a row to earn the best rewards possible.'
'A FUT Draft series has an entry fee of 15,000 coins, 300 FIFA Points, or 1 Draft Token (available in FUT packs). Even if you lose your first match you’ll still receive a reward that matches the value of the entrance fee. The further you progress, the better rewards you get.'
Now i personally don't play FIFA, I think that the games are too repetitive but this does look interesting as it offers a new way to play the game. Not too impressed by the entry amount but you decide i guess. Check out the trailer below!

UNRAVEL
The upcoming physics-based puzzle platform game, was shown off by developers during the EA Gamescom event as well as the last E3.
Martin Sahlin said this about the Upcoming yarn based puzzle game that debut at E3.
'Being made from yarn is both a weakness and a strength. The yarn can be fragile, or get tangled, or you could run out entirely.'
'But just like the bond it represents, it can also be incredibly strong, and it enables you to do really great things – reaching out, climbing, swinging, connecting, making bridges, or launching Yarny high up in the air – and for more complex puzzles, you’ll have to use all of these abilities together.'
He also spoke about the scientific aspects of this game.
'The puzzles are all physics based, so how you choose to tackle things is really up to you, and your creativity.'
This seems to be a new direction for puzzle games. Bringing physics and creativity together in such a way has not been done before. And judging by the adorable characters themselves, I'm exited for this game.

MIRROR'S EDGE: CATALYST
Mirror's Edge Catalyst has been given a release date of February 23, 2016 and it has also been revealed that Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a prequel to 2008's Mirror's Edge revolving around Faith's past and how she got started.

'In this first Mirror’s Edge Catalyst gameplay trailer, experience the moment where Faith begins her rise from a carefree runner to the hero the city needs. Playing in first person allows players to feel her fluid movement, combat and power.'
'At the beginning of the game, Faith is released from juvenile detention, and her long-time mentor, Noah, has welcomed her back to the Runner's lair. He now trusts Faith enough to give her a true Runner's job. She is tasked to break into the Elysium building in the Downtown district to find a terminal where she can get access to important information. However, things don't go as planned as Gabriel Kruger makes an unannounced visit to the facility.'
Not much else was revealed other than a trailer but i expect that we can expect more news from this game later on this year. And from what i have seen, its stunning! You can check out the new trailer below, showing Faith going on an ill-fated run that ends with her finding out some terrible new secrets and make up your own mind!
