Sucker Punch Credit Crunched

Sad news today, as Infamous and Sly Cooper creators Sucker Punch have been hit with some layoffs, Sony have told Eurogamer. The exact numbers and reasons behind the sackings are unclear, but Sony indicated that many Sly Cooper team members have been released, so my guess is that the Sly team will be moving to Sanzaru Games, the team that developed the latest Sly Cooper game, Thieves in Time. More on that later. Still, its sad to see the developer lose some employees, so I wish all of those fired good luck.

God, that was the saddest paragraph I've ever written. Could somebody please send me an Office boxset before I get depressed?

"Isn't depression just a fancy word for " feeling down"?

"DWIGHT YOU IGNORANT SLUT"

Anyways, there could be a lot of reasons why Sucker Punch is suffering layoffs, so here's some speculation:
1. There is no way that Sucker Punch is suffering layoffs because of a money shortage. Infamous: Second Son sold extremely well, shifting 1 million copies in just 9 days and was successful enough to spawn a standalone DLC, First Light, which is coming out at the end of the month. However...
2. If First Light is the only Infamous DLC, then the layoffs could just be developers finishing their contracts. Many PopCap employees were laid off after the launch of Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare for the exact same reason.
3. As I said earlier, this could be a complete company reshuffle that moves the Sly Cooper department to Sanzaru Games, meaning that Sucker Punch could just be setting development on future Infamous games, leaving the Sly series to Sanzaru.

What do you guys think? What do you think the reason is behind all of these layoffs? Tell us in the comments below!
