Guess you won't be able to play on Destiny as well as get a phone contract, eh Michael? #officejokes

Socially scary news today, as Bungie Writer Luke Smith revealed to IGN today that Destiny's Raid mode "requires you to have a group of five other friends to play with". Goddammit Luke. Every. Single. Time. Goddammit. Anyways, as you can tell, there have been mixed reactions, as Raid mode will be one of Destiny's big boys, especially after people have blazed through the campaign. The innovative game type is supposed to be a pretty hard one, with an average game lasting an hour or two and content designed for players upside of level 20. THAT'S WHAT SHE

OK, I'll stop now.

Anyway, this leads to the question: are Bungie right in restricting this mode? In my opinion, definitely yes. If you want to play an hour long mission and not get annoyed or abandoned, friends are the way to go, as they'll never leave a game because they're with N00B HACKEGFRS, and if Raid mode is as hard as it sounds, then you'll definitely need clear communication with your fireteam if you want to succeed. Games like Rainbow Six: Siege and Evolve will also work and play better with friends, although they aren't restricted.

Still, I can understand why people are miffed about this. Some people don't have 5 other friends they play with regularly, and even if they do, it's hard to get them all on the same time because of conflicting schedules. Still, it's not the end of the world, (Well, in Destiny it almost is) as there are plenty of other game modes to choose from.

What do you guys think? Will you be able to play Raid mode, and if not, how else will you bide your time? Tell us in the comments below!
